Supporting Local Schools
Pictured here are children from Ms. Debora S. Clark's class, one of five pre school class recipients in the Spotsylvania County. The children are receiving books from the donation made by the Ft. Belvoir AFCEA Chapter. The $1000 provided by the FT. Belvoir AFCEA Board of Directors impacts nearly 100 children today and tomorrow.

Throughout the years Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, AFCEA Chapter has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students living in Northern Virginia. Adhering to the math and science themes, the Ft. Belvoir organization maintains close relationships with officials in local high schools and junior high schools to augment math and science programs and opportunities while providing scholarships for several students.

Recently the the Board of Directors for the Ft. Belvoir AFCEA Chapter undertook a special project in supporting nearly 100 pre school children (4 and 5 year olds) in Virginia's Spotsylvania County's Preschool Programs by providing math and science books and materials. The Board recently received accolades from one of the Spotsylvania County teachers praising the generosity made to the Spotsylvania County ’s VPI Preschool Program.

The Ft. Belvoir AFCEA Board of Directors received a letter of appreciation saluting the Board's vision to augment learning materials for the pre school children. In the teacher's words, "recent legislative cuts to the education budgets, along with the No Child Left Behind mandates, your contribution to our classroom’s will help offset those financial cuts and the impact that it has on the teachers and students. We are all so excited to be able to use your donations to supplement our classroom materials and learning experiences. The materials will be used for many years to come and will go a long way in helping our students progress in their early learning years."
